Check a distance with the tape measure
The tape measure in the room editor checks the distance between any two points of the drawing, without changing the room.
Use it to check a diagonal against the one you took on site, or the gap between two walls on an odd-shaped room.
Measure
- Open the room in the room editor: tap the pencil (Edit room) on its card, or start a new drawn room.
- Tap Measure on the tools along the bottom.
- Press where the tape should start and drag to where it ends, then lift your finger. Or tap the start, then tap the end.
- Read the distance on the line.
To adjust a measurement, drag one of its ends. Press anywhere else to start a new one. Tap View to go back to moving and zooming the drawing.
Snapping
- An end dropped close to a corner or a wall lands exactly on it, and turns green.
- A tape started on a wall locks square across the room, so the gap between two walls reads true. The distance then shows a ⟂ mark.
- Turn Snap off on the tools if you want to measure freely.
Good to know
- Distances show in metres to two decimal places, or in feet and inches on an imperial job.
- The tape also works while you’re drawing by points, on what you’ve drawn so far.
- On a computer, press M to turn the tape measure on.
- The floor plan has a Tape measure on its toolbar too.
- The tape is only a check. To change a wall, tap the wall and set its length, as in Draw a room shape.
