Create a cutting plan

A cutting plan lays a job’s rooms out on one roll of carpet or roll flooring, so you know exactly what length to order and where to cut.

Set up the plan

  1. Open the job. Under Materials, find Cutting plans and tap New plan.
  2. Give the plan a name if you like. Each plan on a job needs its own name.
  3. Choose the Product. Only carpet and roll flooring (vinyl sheet) can go on a cutting plan.
  4. Choose the Roll width. The list shows the widths the product comes in.
  5. Tap Rooms and tick the rooms that come off this roll.
  6. Tap Create cutting plan. The plan opens full screen.
  7. Tap Arrange to lay the rooms out, then Save at the top.

Next time, the same button reads Edit cutting plan.

What the plan’s label means

  • Laid out: saved, and its roll size is used for the price.
  • Ready to lay out: open it, arrange and save.
  • Changed – open and save again: rooms were added, resized or taken off since it was saved.
  • Choose a product, Choose a roll width or Choose rooms: something is still missing.

Staircases

Stairs are ordered from a cutting plan. Add the staircase to the plan’s rooms like any other room and every straight section, winder and bullnose is laid on the roll as its own piece, with its code (for example W2 · Winder 2). Stair pieces are cut up to the next whole centimetre. Until the staircase is on a plan that has been laid out, the room card says Needs a cutting plan and it’s priced from its measurements plus the extra length per cut.

Good to know

  • A room can only be on one plan for each product. Choosing it for a second plan moves it.
  • Until a plan is laid out and saved, its rooms are priced from their own sizes. The Summary says which rooms are “not laid out yet”.
  • Changing the plan’s roll width on the job page may rearrange the layout the next time you open it.

Next: find your way round the cutting plan screen.
