Add a room
For a plain rectangle, a simple room is the quickest way in: a name, a length and a width.
Add the room
- Open the job and go to Rooms.
- In Rooms & measurements, tap + Add room, then Simple room.
- What room is this? Tap a name, such as Main bedroom, or type your own. Tap Skip to keep a numbered name such as “Room 1” and change it later.
- Enter the Length and Width. On a phone, tapping a size opens a wheel: metres and centimetres, or feet and inches on an imperial job.
- Under Product, choose the carpet or flooring for the room.
The area is worked out as you type, and the room is saved as you go.
Other ways to add a room
- Draw room for L shapes, bays, notches and anything else that isn’t a rectangle. See Draw a room shape.
- Staircase for stairs, winders, bullnoses and landings. See Build a staircase.
- Measure by voice to say each room as you go. See Measure a job by voice.
Change or remove a room
- Tap the pencil (Edit room) to open the room in the room editor and change its shape.
- Tap ⋯ on the room, then Delete room. Tap Undo on the message if you didn’t mean it.
- The ⋯ at the top of Rooms & measurements has Undo last room change and Redo room change.
Good to know
- Sizes show length first or width first, as set in Settings › Language, currency and units under Write sizes as.
- A side longer than 50 m (150 ft on an imperial job) gets a check in case of a typing slip. Tap Yes, keep it or Change.
- A drawn room’s sizes come from its shape, so you change them in the room editor, not on the card.
- To see what the coloured stripes and borders on rooms mean, tap ⋯ › How rooms and rolls work.
