Add transition strips and place them on the floor plan
Transition strips are the thresholds, reducers and carpet bars on a job. Say which rooms they go in, then place each one on its doorway on the floor plan.
Add a transition strip
- On the job page, open Transition Strips (under Not on this job: if it’s empty) and add one.
- Choose the Finish (Silver, Gold, Chrome, Brass, Nickel or Custom), the Type (for example Carpet bar, Seam binder, Flat bar, Stair nose, T-Molding, Reducer) and the Length.
- Enter the price each, or a price per foot.
- Tap Rooms and set how many go in each room. Any you don’t put in a room count as Not in a room: spares, or ones you’ll place later.
The quantity charged is the total across the rooms plus the ones not in a room.
Place them on the floor plan
- In the floor plan, tap Place transition strips on the toolbar. The Transition Strips panel opens.
- Each transition strip lists its rooms, with how many are placed, for example “1 of 2”.
- Tap Place beside a room. The transition strip goes on the room’s longest free wall if it fits; if not, the app asks you to tap a wall.
- Drag a placed transition strip along its wall to the doorway.
Once placed, the button reads View and zooms to the transition strip. You can add a new one from the same panel; it’s the same as adding it on the job page.
Good to know
- A doorway between two rooms counts for the room whose wall you tapped.
- Place a transition strip in a room that isn’t on its list and the app adds that room, or uses a spare, and tells you, with Undo.
- You can’t lower a room’s quantity below the number already placed on the plan.
- If a room’s shape changes, its transition strips stay on the matching walls.
- Transition strips placed in rooms can also cut down your tack strip: switch on Leave out doorways on the tack strip.
