Cutting plan options: roll width, planning style and extra material
Tap Options on the cutting plan to change how the roll is planned. On a wide screen the same settings sit beside the roll.
Roll Width
The list only offers widths the product comes in and that every piece on the plan fits. If a room is wider than a width you want, add a join to it first. See Rooms wider than the roll.
When you change width, the app may join rooms so they fit the narrower roll, or put them back in one piece on a wider one. A message tells you which rooms changed.
Planning Style
- Fill (the usual choice) fits pieces into the gaps to keep the roll short.
- Guillotine lays the pieces out in bands, so you can cut straight across the roll between them. The cut lines are listed on the PDF.
Tap Arrange after changing the style to see the new layout.
Room Labels
Show Room Names or Short codes (LIV, HAL, BED2…) on the roll. Codes are easier to read on small pieces, and the Room key under View lists what each code means.
Extra Material
- Tap Extra Material to open it.
- Set Extra Width and Extra Length (in inches, or in cm on a metric job).
- Tap Apply. Every room on the roll grows by that much.
Extra material gives you tolerance on your measurements and room for pattern matching.
Good to know
- Extra width is never allowed past the roll edge. If a room plus its extra is wider than the roll, the extra width is trimmed at the edge and the app tells you. Extra length is still added. To keep the extra width, choose a wider roll.
- For a patterned carpet, set the pattern repeat on the product and each cut is rounded up to whole repeats. See Roll widths, prices and pattern repeat.
